Shetland Supreme Lace – 100% Shetland Wool (500g Cone)

Shetland Supreme Lace is a beautifully soft and silky 1ply yarn, worsted spun from the undyed, natural colours of purebred Shetland sheep. Developed in partnership with the Shetland Museum and Archives as part of the Shetland Fine Lace Project, this yarn recreates the handspun lace used in some of Shetland’s finest historic pieces – including those made for Queen Victoria. While knitting, it carries the distinctive Shetland ‘halo’, which settles into a fine, airy haze after washing. Perfect for Shetland lace shawls, scarves, and heirloom garments.

28 sts x 44 rows = 10cm (4in) on 3mm needles in stocking stitch
24 sts x 40 rows = 10cm (4in) on 3mm needles in lace patterns

Natural Shade Notes
All shades in this range are completely undyed, except for Optic White, which is bleached. These are the natural colours of the fleece, giving the yarn its warmth and subtle character. Shade names are descriptive only – for example, Shetland Black is a very dark brown.
