Shetland Heritage Optic White

Shetland Heritage recreates the original characteristics of handspun wursit used in historic Fair Isle garments. This yarn was developed with the Shetland Museum and Archives, based on samples from their textile collection, to replicate the smooth, fine yarns found in 19th-century Fair Isle knitting.

Worsted spun from combed Real Shetland wool, Shetland Heritage has a soft feel and a smooth finish, offering exceptional stitch definition and clarity. Slightly finer than modern 4ply, it’s ideal for traditional colourwork and gives subtle complexity to patterns — just as it did over a century ago.
