Yoke Cardigan Heritage
These yokes have been designed and manufactured in Shetland by Jamieson & Smith, the body is machine knit for us by a hand frame knitter based in Whalsay and then the Yoke and finishing is done by a selection of Shetland knitters in their own homes. The yoke design is taken from Sandra Manson's Hairst pattern and is available here to purchase in a variety of colours. We are passionate about retaining and continuing Shetlands strong textile heritage and by supporting Shetland's knitters we feel it will keep getting stronger.
This cardigan is knit in Shetland Heritage, one of our proudest achievements. This yarn is worsted spun and incredibly soft and strong. Developed in conjunction with the Shetland Museum and Archives this yarn range replicates the yarns used in Shetland knitwear as long ago as the late 1800's.
Each yoke is 100% Shetland Wool and should be hand washed in warm (never hot) soapy water, roll in a towel to remove the excess water and either laid flat to dry or shaped on a jumper board.
Please Note: These are listings for individual yokes, in the event of it selling in the shop before we see your order we will contact you to offer an alternative.
Sizing: The size listed is the finished exact size, if you are a 34" chest and want 2" positive ease you would buy a 36"
If you are not sure about sizing find a cardigan which fits you the way you like and measure it lying flat from underarm to under in inches (eg 18") double this (36") and you will get the finished bust size you want.
