Shetland Lace for Beginners

One of two patterns created by Sandra Manson for her classes at the Campaign for Wool's Wool House exhibition at Somerset House, London in March 2013. This simple pattern gives you an insight into Shetland Lace knitting whilst creating a small lace swatch, helping give you the confidence to create larger Shetland Lace projects. The pattern can also easily be adapted to create a scarf by adding more yarn to your order. The other pattern is Fair Isle for Beginners.

Choose a shade from our Shetland Supreme 2ply Lace Weight range and leave a note of this in the 'Delivery and Order Comments' box at checkout, otherwise you will receive a shade at random. Add 2 or 3 balls of Shetland Supreme 2ply Lace Weight if you want to try making a scarf or 3 or 4 balls of Shetland Supreme 1ply Lace Weight if you want a more challenging scarf.

Wool House was billed by the Campaign for Wool as ‘the world’s biggest ever celebration of Wool'. It was curated by renowned designer Arabella McNie and was a 12 day showcase of wool, the greatest of all natural fibres, and its abundant range of uses, including crafts, fashion and home-ware.
