Shetland Aran Yarn

Aran_cables.jpgFormerly known as "Brora Soft Spun", we have re-released this yarn range in our 2009 collection under the name "Shetland Aran" to give a more recognisable name for those fibre lovers who are used to this heavier weight yarn. Used in the production of Fisherman's and Aran sweaters, work-boot and hiking socks, chunkier garments and heavier winter knits, this yarn is luxurious and bouncy. It retains the traditional elements of other Shetland yarns such as giving crisp stitch definition, and providing natural warmth and insulation during colder weather.
Weights and Measures:
50g Balls, approximate yardage: 90m/98yards. (length given for pattern guidance only)
Metric Count: 2/3.6nm

Shetland Supreme Naturals

Available in 1ply and 2 ply lace weight, this is a new worsted spun yarn, which features parallel threads giving it greater strength and a softer handling feel. There is quite a distinctive Shetland "halo" which calms down slightly after washing and blocking.
Shetland Supreme is available in the following shades;
Natural White, Fawn, Grey, Moorit and Shetland Black.
Please Note: Shetland supreme is currently only available on cone.

This selection of yarn is truly representative of the naturally occurring colours of fleece present in the native breed of Shetland sheep today.
Undyed and
available in 9 different natural shades, this yarn is produced by hand sorting each fleece according to colour and quality, when it is brought into our woolstore.

Perfect for colour work, and as it is completely dye-free, it is also suitable for those who like to take the natural approach with their projects.
