Located in Lerwick- the capital town of the Shetland Islands, Jamieson & Smith are long established as the islands primary purchaser of the Shetland Wool clip. Each fleece purchased by us is hand sorted and graded before being made into one of our Real Shetland products. We annually purchase the raw fleece from over 700 local crofters and farmers, which comprises over 80% of all the wool produced in Shetland. This is turn gives us the largest selection of Shetland wool to produce our Real Shetland yarns and other Shetland Wool products. World renowned as the producers of the original Shetland jumper weight yarns, our product range includes firm old favourites such as the traditional yarns for Fair Isle and Shetland lace knitting, alongside new products in Shetland wool for fibre crafts as well as finished products which demonstrate the wonderful qualities that Shetland Wool has to offer. We also offer a vast collection of knitting resources- patterns and kits for traditional and modern hand knitting, and a broad range of patterns to appeal to all levels of enthusiastic fibre artists.
